AUSTRALIA'S biggest construction company Leighton Holdings has been awarded a $409 million contract to build tunnel sections of a Hong Kong rail link.
The project involves building the West Kowloon Terminus approach tunnel and Track Fan tunnel section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link (XRL).
Contract works would start in August 2010 with completion scheduled for 2015, Sydney-based Leighton said in a statement on Wednesday.
This was the second XRL project contract to be awarded to Leighton Asia, following the award of a $463 million contract in March this year.
