EUROPEAN stock exchanges rose sharply overnight, with the London FTSE 100 index adding 1.90 per cent to close at 5313.81 points.
In Paris, the CAC 40 gained 3.05 per cent to reach 3600.57 points while in Frankfurt the DAX was up 2.53 per cent at 6142.15 points.
