Boral to separate cement operations

BULDING products maker Boral says its cement division will be separated into two new divisions, with the old division's general manager to leave the company.

Boral's cement operations will be separated to become cement, and construction related businesses, Boral managing director Rod Pearse said.

Executive general manager of the former cement division since 1999, Phil Jobe, will leave the company to join aluminium supplier Capral as chief executive officer, Mr Pearse said.

The changes are effective from April.

Mike Beardsell has been appointed executive general manager of the new cement division, which will include Blue Circle Southern Cement and Asian Construction Materials.

The new cement division will employ about 4225 people across 115 locations.

Mr Beardsell was previously national general manager of Blue Circle Southern Cement.

Warren Davison will be executive general manager of construction related businesses, which will include Boral Formwork and Dowell Windows.

Construction related businesses will employ about 1280 people across 32 sites.
