But Mr McInnes' pay was higher last year, when he pocketed a total of $7.14 million.
His pay package for 2008 included a salary of $1.91 million, a cash bonus of $3.09 million and $1.74 million in long term incentive plan rights.
About 70 per cent of Mr McInnes' payout was performance related, David Jones said in its annual report released today.
