Australian market preview

THE Australian market looks set to open flat after Wall Street was virtually unchanged in overnight trading. At 06.44 (AEDT), the December share price index futures contract was down two points at 4280. In economic news on Tuesday, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) releases its international trade in goods and services figures for September while the National Australia Bank's releses the monthly business survey for October. In equities news, the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Atlas Iron Ltd both hold annual general meeting. In Australia, the market on Monday closed slightly lower after energy stocks lost ground and Westpac and Macquarie Group traded without a dividend. The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was down 7.7 points, or 0.18 per cent, at 4273.4, while the broader All Ordinaries index was 7.2 points, or 0.17 per cent weaker at 4335.3.
