Enjoy your trip - the dollar keeps on dazzling

TRAVELLERS are ready to splash the cash overseas as the Aussie dollar continues to rally and outstrip all comers. After dropping below 94 cents just over a week ago, the dollar's risen from the ashes to fight back to parity and beyond. It reached $US1.02 this morning, continuing a seven-day surge for the global currency du jour. The 5 per cent jump is the best among all major currencies worldwide which is music to the ears of travellers heading overseas for a pre-Christmas break. Growing confidence in Europe, and not great news domestically, is behind the dazzling dollar. And it's not just the US giving us a strong exchange rate - the Australian dollar was roaring against the Yen (79), Euro cents (74) and pence (64.6). But travellers might need to check flights before packing their bags, with more strikes from Qantas and customs staff displacing thousands of passengers.
